What are the reasons for unstable speed in centrifugal fans?

When a high-speed centrifugal fan is running, issues may arise in the control system due to the high rotational speed. Some customers have encountered this problem where the fan’s speed fluctuates, sometimes running fast and sometimes slow, which affects its performance. So, how does this happen? Let’s analyze the issue.

In fact, this is a common problem. Generally, the issue lies in the movement level. There are four possible causes in total. It’s likely that one of the four rectifier diodes in the centrifugal fan’s mechanical equipment has malfunctioned, causing the fan’s speed to vary, which jeopardizes its normal operation.

The second factor to consider is the potential safety risks between the motor and the commutator, such as poor carbon powder or carbon brushes in the motor. We can identify the problem by performing checks. First, we will test the variable resistor. If the resistance is fine, we will precisely measure the thyristor for any abnormalities. If everything is normal, we can check the connection status of the centrifugal fan’s circuit board, both positive and negative connections.
