Five Key Considerations When Selecting a Ventilation Fan

  • Select a Fan Based on the Physical and Chemical Properties of the Gas:

    • Explosive and Flammable Gases:
Choose an explosion-proof fan, ensuring that the fan’s explosion-proof rating meets the required standards.

    • Dust or Coal Powder:
Select a dedicated dust or coal powder fan.

    • Corrosive Gases:
Choose a corrosion-resistant fan and select appropriate corrosion-resistant materials, such as fiberglass or fiberglass PP, based on the specific conditions.

    • High-Temperature Gases:
For high-temperature environments or when conveying high-temperature gases, choose a high-temperature fan and ensure that the temperature requirements for both the environment and the gas are understood.

  • Avoid Parallel or Series Operation of Fans:

    • If parallel or series operation is unavoidable, it is recommended to select fans with the same model and performance.
    • When operating in series, ensure that there is an appropriate pipe connection between the primary and secondary fans.
  • Variety Selection:

    • When choosing a fan, familiarize yourself with the types, specifications, and special applications of fans available in the domestic market to ensure the selection meets the actual requirements.
  • Fan Impeller Selection:

    • If the selected fan impeller diameter is larger than the original impeller, recalculate the motor start-up time, the strength of fan components, and the critical speed of the shaft to ensure that the original motor shaft, bearings, and supports can withstand the load.
  • Noise Control:

    • For ventilation systems with noise requirements, prioritize selecting fans with high efficiency and low impeller peripheral speed, and ensure that they operate at their optimal efficiency point.
    • Based on the noise and vibration propagation characteristics of the ventilation system, take appropriate noise reduction and vibration damping measures. The damping foundation can be used for both the fan and motor, and different types of damping equipment can be selected based on the fan’s installation method.
