Detailed Maintenance Methods for Ventilation Fans

1. Daily Inspection Items:

  • Changes in Operating Sound: Pay attention to any abnormal changes in the sound while the fan is running.
  • Condition of the Fan Belt: Check the quality and wear of the fan belt.
  • Vibration and Noise of Bearings and Motor Bearings: Regularly monitor the vibration and noise of the bearings to ensure smooth operation.
  • Temperature Rise of Each Bearing: The temperature of each bearing should be within a reasonable range, and the temperature rise should be less than 40°C.
  • Fan Vibration: Inspect vibrations of the impeller, coupling, and other components.

All of these checks should be carried out daily, with detailed records kept. Regular inspections help familiarize you with the normal operating condition of the fan, allowing for quick detection and handling of any abnormalities.

2. Regular Maintenance Tasks:

  • Impeller Inspection and Replacement: Open the observation port or access the fan inlet to clean out dust and inspect the blades for cracks or excessive wear.
  • Coupling Inspection and Replacement of Worn Parts: Check the pins and elastic sleeves to ensure the coupling is concentric. If necessary, make adjustments to maintain concentricity.
  • Motor Bearing Inspection and Lubrication: Regularly check the motor bearings and add lubricant as needed.
  • Belt Inspection and Replacement: Ensure the pulleys are aligned to avoid belt twisting. The belt tension should be moderate, and avoid forcing the belt when disassembling.
  • Pre-Operation Check: Before starting the fan, manually check for any friction or abnormalities. If everything is normal, power on the system and monitor the current to prevent the motor from being overloaded.

3. Daily Maintenance of the Fan:

  • Regular Lubrication: Strictly follow the prescribed schedule for regular and appropriate lubrication, with a dedicated person in charge and a system for recording oiling activities.

The usual oiling amount is 30–50 grams per session, with intervals of 2500–3000 operating hours.

Based on the experience of a factory in Yunnan, during initial oiling, the grease gun may have no pressure, so wait until there is pressure before adding oil. Another factory’s practice is to clean the grease in the bearing housing every three months with diesel, then refill it with fresh grease.

Note: Excessive lubrication may cause an increase in bearing temperature, but this is normal, and the temperature will gradually return to normal as the fan operates.

  • Prepare for Regular Maintenance: Based on daily inspection records, prepare necessary spare parts and consumables in advance to ensure timely repairs for critical maintenance items.

4. Fan Regular Maintenance Frequency:

Fans should undergo regular maintenance once or twice a year to ensure long-term stable operation.
